Background
The Zambia Institute for Strategic Management (ZISM) was registered under the Registrar of Societies Act Chapter 119 of the Laws of Zambia on 21 March 2019 as a voluntary membership, non-governmental and not-for-profit organisation.
The establishment of ZISM is aimed at promoting the generation, dissemination and utilisation of strategic management knowledge and skill in the running of organisations in Zambia in order to improve their performance and productivity. This was in response to the increased dynamism and complexity of the modern business environment which calls for the adoption and utilisation of proactive and deliberative management approaches and practices which comprehensively take account of the
business external environment and internal dynamics in establishing organisation direction and actions for the successful actualization of an organisation’s vision and mission.

Mandate of the Zambia Institute for Strategic Management
The Mandate of the Zambia Institute for Strategic Management is as outlined below:
a) To advocate for and promote the inculcation of a culture of strategic management across the various sectors of the economy.
b) To regulate the practice and promote the use of Strategic Management in Zambia.
c) To promote the development of Strategic Management knowledge and skills and related competencies.
d) To promote and regulate training and knowledge dissemination in Strategic Management.
